Requisites for Registration of .IN Domain Names for Indian and Foreign Nationals

 

This advisory is issued by the National Internet Exchange of India (.IN Registry), to ensure transparency and compliance in the registration process for .IN (India ccTLD) domain names. National Internet Exchange of India clarifies that there never been any directions or advisories to restrict registrations only to Indian nationals for obtaining .IN (India ccTLD) domain names. Foreign nationals/entities are eligible to apply for and obtain .IN (India ccTLD) domain names. For ease and convenience, the eligibility criteria may kindly be referred to.

 

It is clarified that for registrations of .IN domain names by persons/entities residing outside of India (Non-Resident/foreign Registrants), NIXI requests that the Non-Resident/foreign Registrant shares their business connection and/or purpose of connection to India which is a global practice well within the right of registry being “ccTLD”. NIXI elucidates that this requirement is a procedural requirement and does not in any manner preclude any Non-Resident/ foreign Registrant for registering any domain name.
